Night Diver Specialty

Night Diver Specialty

Get your PADI Night Diver Specialty and when you go night diving you’ll see a whole new world. Even our local dive sites, like Porteau Cove or Whytecliff Park take on a new personality at night, as many underwater creatures and plant life (different from those you see during the day) are active at night.

Enroll in the PADI Night Diver Specialty Course at the UBC Aqua Society and explore the thrill of entering the underwater world in darkness.  See the unique marine animals like the Giant Pacific Octopus, who comes out at night in search for food.  Turn off your lights and watch the ocean light up with bioluminescence!

Night Diver Specialty

You’ll learn night dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and potential problems. You’ll also learn how to control your buoyancy, navigate and communicate at night. Since many of the plants and animals you’ll see are different, you’ll also get an introduction to nocturnal aquatic life. The Night Diver Specialty is conducted over a series of 3 dives. Contact the shop for details on dates available.*

Night Dives are conducted from shore at one of our local dive sites: Whytecliff Park or Porteau Cove are great local night dives.  Night Dives can also be arranged locally from a boat or on a local dive trip.
